the key findings of the research being conducted by TERI (The
Energy and Resources Institute) in association with BEE (Bureau
of Energy Efficiency) and APP (Asia Pacific Partnership), this
special event brought out the need for High Performance Commercial
Buildings in India.
The study revealed that buildings which incorporate ECBC
(Energy Conservation Building Code) features help reduce energy
consumption by 50%. Also, the incorporation of Low Energy
Strategies helps reduce energy consumption by up to 22%. By
incorporating both ECBC-compliant measures as well as Low
Energy Strategies, the energy consumption of new buildings
can be reduced by up to 60% over a conventional building.
These findings are being used to modify building bye-laws
of 5 municipalities in India.
