YUVA Meet

Youth Unite for Voluntary Action (YUVA) Meet is an annual event for youth organized by TERI as a special event of TERI's annual flagship initiative 'Delhi Sustainable Development Summit.’ The meet aims to provide youth with a holistic overview of the emerging environmental challenges and to encourage them to play a vital role in spreading awareness on key environment concerns and collectively voice their views and exchange ideas.

‘Conserving Global Commons: Transforming Knowledge into Action’

YUVA Meet 2012 The YUVA Meet 2012 was organized from 30-31 January, 2012 on the theme: ‘Conserving Global Commons: Transforming Knowledge into Action’. Despite the vast knowledge and information available about the impact of human activities on environment, little has been done towards conservation of global commons. The meet focused on how this knowledge can be converted into action and to inspire the youth to work towards a sustainable future. 227 young people from 14 different nations – United Kingdom, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Africa, Swaziland, Nigeria, Korea, Canada, The Netherlands, Thailand, Bhutan, Bangladesh and India, participated in YUVA Meet 2012.

As part of YUVA Meet this year, a series of seminars were organized in 7 states/Union Territories of the country. The objective of these seminars was to focus on issues related to conservation and protection of regional commons and provide a platform for deliberation for youth on actions required towards implementing the concept of sustainable development at regional levels.
